Cakespy Interview and Giveaway!
Jessie Oleson (JO) is head spy of cakespy. She spies out of her new retail location on capital hill filled with all sorts of fun, kitsch items featuring...you guessed it, cake!
UCU: Pick a song that gets you in creative mood or you think would make a great addition to a "UCU Winter 2010 Soundtrack".
JO: "Africa" by Toto. No hesitation.
UCU: What’s one thing you wish you had known at your first craft show?
JO: Bring. Lots. Of. One. Dollar. Bills.
UCU: If you have pets, introduce them and tell us a bit about them!
JO: I have two pugs, Porkchop and Olive, and a guinea pig named Falafel. Porkchop often comes to my retail store with me, and has a large fan base. I call him the Mayor of Capitol Hill.
UCU: What item are you most excited to be offering at UCU Winter 2010?
JO:New tote bags, mugs, and prints of a new series of Andy Warhol quotes illustrated in cupcake form! OH! And my awesome new holiday cards, including "Rudolph Meets Unicorn".
UCU: What day of show traditions are you bringing to UCU 2010?
JO: I always make cookies for my shoppers. This makes me a very popular girl at the show.
UCU: If you could sum up your work in one word, what would that be?
JO: Sweet.
UCU: What gift are you most excited to give this year?
JO: My presence in NJ, I am splurging on airfare to go back home and spend the holidays with my parents at my childhood home.
UCU: What are you nibbling on as the snow falls this winter?
JO: Eggnog Nanaimo Bars and hot chocolate! Breakfast of champions!
UCU: Favorite handmade item you have? It could be made by you, gifted to you or something you picked up.
JO: Felt "meat" magnets by Mucho Design, another great Seattle artist and vendor at UCU!
Cakespy is giving away this adorable mug. Perfect for the cold and windy weather that will most likely be what we know as winter this year! Leave a comment to be entered in the drawing.
