UCU- What is your business and when did it form?

UCU-If you could have a super power what would it be?

K- Oh, I'd love to be able to fly fast as a Rocket!

UCU-Favorite holiday memory?

K- favorite Holiday memories...so many! I'll pick one, my first 'Real' kiss on Halloween when I was a teenager, then getting married on Halloween.

UCU- Will you have a special $5
item for UCU's anniversary?

K- I'm going to try to have a $5 item.....

UCU-Got any new items you will be showcasing at the show?

K- I will be showcasing my new line of armwarmers this show!

Wonder Thunder

UCU- What is your business and when did it form?
Wonder Thunder is two member club (Meagan Claire Hall and Sasha Barr), where we screen-print and sew to pass the time. We really needed something to pass the especially dismal winter a few years ago, so we set up shop in our hallway. Now, two basement upgrades and lots of toast faces later, we don't plan on ever stopping.

UCU- If you could have a super power what would it be?
WT- To breathe under water and have webbed hands and feet just like Kevin Costner.

UCU- Favorite holiday memory?
WT- Everyday is our favorite holiday and we celebrate each one with appropriate attire, traditional edibles, and much gusto.

UCU- Will you have a special $5 item for UCU's anniversary?
WT- Back when we first made our $5 angry toast, we knew his day of glory would come. He will have his birthday hat on just for you.

UCU- Got any new items you will be showcasing at the show?
WT- If you haven't seen us since last year, then our reusable vegetable bags in their current incarnation will be new to you! They are bright, cottony, and drawstringed, do your part to eliminate plastic from your grocery shopping!
Also new, Moody Toast pillow, happy on one side, angry on the other. Perfect for sending subtle signals. New prints will make their debut as well....all we can say for now is ice cream, pizza, and corn cobs.

UCU- What is your business and when did it form?

Idle Hands Designs was formed in 2006 when I turned my hobby into a business

UCU- If you could have a super power what would it be?

IHD-As for my super power... I'd have to say that I fancy Medusa's power to control her hair as an extra limb. That would come in handy while making stuff for sure!

UCU- Favorite holiday memory?

IHD- Hmmm so i'm guessing Halloween is out.
I love my family and really enjoy being around them so my favorite thing about the holidays is that it brings people together.

UCU- Will you have a special $5 item for UCU's anniversary?

IHD- I will have a $5 special! A pair of earrings that are hand cast reproductions of vintage buttons. There will be various styles and colors to choose from. Cute as a button ::)

UCU- Got any new items you will be showcasing at the show?

IHD- New this holiday season! I've blended my love of vintage with my metal work to create a new line of belts. I pretty much live in vintage dresses and am always on the look out for the perfect belt. Challenged to find something that expressed my style, I've taken it upon myself... They are well made and unique.! Many of the styles are one of a kind featuring reworked vintage materials. For exclusive deals and news become a fan on my Facebook page! UCU- What is your business and when did it form?

CS- My business, CakeSpy, is a dessert detective agency dedicated to seeking sweetness in everyday life. This goal is realized through sweet writing on my blog, CakeSpy.com, and sweet products in my shop, CakeSpyShop.com. If you leave these URLS unhappy, then you're not human. I formed the business in 2007.

UCU- If you could have a super power what would it be?

CS- The ability to eat cake like a competitive eater and not gain weight.

UCU- Favorite holiday memory?

CS- Always, the Christmas cookies. I am especially fond of ever-so-slightly campy ones, like cornflake wreaths!

UCU- Will you have a special $5 item for UCU's anniversary?

CS- As Napoleon Dynamite would say, "Heck Yes!" I will have a pack of "local landmark" Seattle postcards for $5 each.

UCU- Got any new items you will be showcasing at the show?

CS- The sweetest little cupcake ornaments (for your Christmas tree, or any time of year!) you've ever seen. They're freshly produced and so adorable, you might die when you see them.

Kykyandkiki

UCU- What is your business and when did it form?

Kykyandkiki started a year and a half ago when I decided to start selling some of the products I had been making for my friends' babies and for my niece Kiana. I started with two kinds of bibs...soft flannel for babies and larger oil cloth bibs with a pocket for toddlers who begin eating solid foods. As my niece has grown I've added little kid costumes and gear for when she plays 'mom'. I named my business kykyandkiki because her nickname is Kiki and she calls me Aunt Kyky.

UCU- If you could have a super power what would it be?

I would definitely love the super power ability to instantaneously arrive at my destination without having to take the time or energy to walk, drive or fly there. I hate the time it takes to travel and always seem just a few minutes behind schedule due to that bridge being up or something else unexpected. Wouldn't it be great to just be there?

UCU- Favorite holiday memory?

One of my favorite holiday memories is gearing up each year with my parents and siblings when we were kids and tromping around our property to find a Christmas tree. One year we decided to do it in the dark with just a lantern. We had a blast, even though the tree looked hideous once inside and exposed by light!

UCU- Will you have a special $5 item for UCU's anniversary?

Still working out the details...but possiblities are a baby pacifier clip or maybe a set of gift tags. Not sure...I'm still creating!

UCU- Got any new items you will be showcasing at the show?

Since this is my first Urban Craft Uprising everything feels new, but my latest creation is a little girl nurse costume from the Civil War era. So cute!

VERMILIO

UCU- What is your business and when did it form?

V- I run a natural dye and felt studio specializing in body adornment. I originally named the business ECOTONES, but have very recently re-named it. It is now called VERMILIO - after being in existence for 2 years.

UCU- If you could have a super power what would it be?

V- I have always wanted to be like Jeannie (Remember that TV show? It was big in Austria where I grew up!) - cross my arms, nod my head and wish for the most remote, most beautiful places on earth - I love it's cultures, living beings and it's textile arts!

UCU- Favorite holiday memory?

V-Taking a motorcycle trip from Athens to Kalamata - it was great to be 18!

UCU- Will you have a special $5 item for UCU's anniversary?

V- Yes, there will be hand-felted keychains for 5 Dollars.

UCU- Got any new items you will be showcasing at the show?
V- I will have some cute totes for sale to initiate my new business name - VERMILIO - they are made of organic cotton, hemp and felt.
