Bazaar Bizarre Maker Faire

The amazing event in San Mateo worth attending is the Maker Faire. Our President, Moxie has been there for several years now at her own Needle Felting Playground.

They are now taking applications to be a crafty vendor with Bazaar Bizarre at the Maker Faire. It's a great event and the BB folks are awesome!

Punk Rock Flea Market Summer

Punk Rock Flea Market returns to the Underground Events Center this summer! On June 6th, from 10:00 in the morning until 10:00 at night, the Punk Rock Flea will rock your world and fill the trunk of your car! The Underground is at 2407 1st Ave. in Belltown. For those of you keeping track, this is PRFM #6!

This is a full on flea market selling everything you can imagine, including records, clothing, furniture, computers, stereo equipment, housewares, haircuts, toys, videos, bicycles, tacos, falafels, vegan treats, skateboards, political propaganda, information from non profit groups, books, art, bike repair, baby stuff, tarot readings & whatever else we can fit into the space. Don't let the name lead you to believe that we only welcome vendors selling punk records, clothes etc. The "Punk Rock" of the name refers as much to the DIY spirit of the event as it does to any particular music or lifestyle. 'Nuff said.

Since it's the height of summer, we're gonna use the outside parking lot in addition to the Underground inside, so we've got 80 spaces for rent. The first 80 forms to come back with $25 will get those spaces. No exceptions. We have a few tables available, but if possible, bring your own. You should also plan to bring all of your own lighting and display equipment. Space at the PRFM always sells out, so I recommend reserving a space sooner rather than later. Send me an email to get the form – PRFleamarket@gmail.com. If you've done this before and know the drill it's okay to just send me your check and vendor info.

As always, the market opens to the public at 10:00 am and bands will begin to play at around 6:00 pm. Vendors are welcome to stay for the entire event, but it isn't required. The 6:00 transition will be a natural moment for tired vendors to close up shop.

Once again, the space we are using has been generously loaned to us for the day by the Low Income Housing Institute, aka. LIHI. LIHI is a non-profit organization that builds homes for homeless and low-income people all around the Puget Sound. Your table fees and entry donations go toward paying insurance and advertising costs for this event. Once those expenses are covered, all additional proceeds will go to LIHI. You are most welcome to make additional donations to LIHI if you feel so inclined. More info about them at www.lihi.org.

The PRFM is put on by volunteers and amateurs, so you can help make it work by communicating your needs and by letting us know if we're missing something important. We want this event to be successful, and we want to do it again!

To reserve a table or ask questions contact producer Joshua Okrent at PRFleamarket@gmail.com or (206) 957-8076. More info at http://www.myspace.com/punkrock_fleamarket.

Revolution in Micromanufacturing

Interesting article in the latest issue of Wired magazine -

"The economy may be cratering, but people are stampeding to handmade goods... And if you're making awesome stuff in your spare time, pretty soon you'll start thinking: Hey, I could sell this, couldn't I? Not a bad way to recession-proof your household."
