Cascade People’s Center is planning an event on Sunday, December 19, 2010, 11am-5pm, to help promote you to the South Lake Union Community.
They are soliciting local artisans (basket weaving, pottery, jewelry, etc.) and small business owners in the area along with retailers at this point to see if there is enough interest before we begin marketing. It will be fair of sorts for artisans to sell their work with a few retailers to promote themselves and possibly sell refreshments and/or small items. They will have tables set up at the center for $20 each for the day.

ES: Emme and Miles, two flubby, sweet tiger kitties. Sometimes they love each other and bathe together nonstop, other times, Emme won't give Miles, her constant suitor, the time of day. They love to sit by the fire. Or on my lap, regardless of how inconvenient this may be for me.

UCU: What’s one thing you wish you had known at your first craft show?
ES: Something I wish I would have known for my first craft show was to plan out some foooood. Standing at your table all day makes for a long day, but it's even longer if you forgot to bring food. This year, I'll have the help of my best friend during both days of the show, so we can tag team.
UCU: What day of show traditions are you bringing to UCU 2010?
ES: Oh my, I wish I was seasoned enough to have some show traditions under my belt, but honestly, this is my first show in 2 years so I'm feeling a wee bit rusty. Thankfully, I'm really excited, too!
UCU: What are you nibbling on as the snow falls this winter?
ES: Boring answer: Quinoa is a staple in my home, so I make it on a regular basis.
Honest answer: Chips and salsa. I'm obsessed with the Gorditos brand salsa (from the restaurant in Greenwood) sold only at Madison Market.
UCU: What gift are you most excited to give this year?
ES: This year I'm pretty excited to give people gifts my homemade granola. Realizing just how much money my bf and I were spending on fancy bulk granola, I decided we had to learn how to make it ourselves. Batch after batch, we've pretty much honed the recipe to a high level of awesome.
UCU: Favorite handmade item you have? It could be made by you, gifted to you or something you picked up.
ES: My favorite handmade item would probably have to be our coffee table. It was made by someone I've known for 15 years. To him, it was just a utilitarian piece, but to me it's unbelievably special.

Secret Stash Salts Interview & Giveaway

Cathy: 1.5 year old rescued fluffy rebel of the streets. Spends her time stalking Fatty and bird whispering. Paper bag obsession. Is the softest creature ever created on this mammal filled earth. Also an avid singer, she and Fatty duet the night with songs of heartache, revenge, and d-i-v-o-r-c-e.

DW: I have 2 dogs and a bird. The dogs are both rescues, one is 4 and a half and was dropped off at the animal shelter when he was 4 weeks. His name is William. He is my pride and joy, a real character. I often refer to him as pig-pen from Charlie Brown since he always seems to be enveloped in a cloud of dirt. The other boy is Wesley. He was 3 in October. I adopted him from a friend who found his broken back mother pregnant and starving in the street. He idealizes William. The bird is Jackson, a parakeet now 6 years old. He loves people! I lost all my pictures of everyone when both my computer and phoned crashed this past month. Time to start taking more! JO:New tote bags, mugs, and prints of a new series of Andy Warhol quotes illustrated in cupcake form! OH! And my awesome new holiday cards, including "Rudolph Meets Unicorn".

JO: I always make cookies for my shoppers. This makes me a very popular girl at the show.

JO: Sweet.

JO: My presence in NJ, I am splurging on airfare to go back home and spend the holidays with my parents at my childhood home.
